Mardi Himal Trekking

Mardi Himal Trekking is situated just east of the most popular treks of Nepal, the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. It is a newly opened route and a hidden gem in the Annapurna Region. This destination offers the tranquil trek with imaging view of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre and Manaslu ranges. The major attraction of this trek is Mardi Himal Peak(4500m) which consists of Jhinu Hot Spring and Ghandruk Village. The base camp is spectacularly situated at the base of Mardi Himal Trekking and impressive Machapuchhre. The commencement of the trek point is at Kande which appears after an hour drive from the most beautiful city of Nepal, Pokhara.  The trail which goes along small winding paths is good. It passes slowly up through rhododendron forests. Then a bit steeper to Australian Camp (2060m-about an hour) until you climb out of the forest at an elevation around 3,300m. Then after slightly downhill to Pothana (1950m), then up again to Deurali (2100m). The landscape changes quite unexpectedly into a rugged high mountain region, with incredible views of Mardi Himal, Machapuchhre, Annapurna South and Himchuli. You can climb to Mardi Himal Base Camp in about 3-4 hours from High Camp which offers spectacular close up views of the entire Annapurna Range. During the trek, you will come across Deurali signposted “Forest Camp”(2600m). It passes through the jungle, at first up then rolling on the top of a ridge. There is a section just over half way where the trail drops precipitously and then slowly gains height and then back on to the ridge and into Forest Camp. You can continue your trek along the ridge for another four to five hours to Mardi Himal Base Camp and return to High Camp in around four hours. This may take a long time but there is also a viewpoint about halfway, the eye-catching view can be from here.  On completion of this, we return all the way down to Forest camp. Upon arrival to Forest Camp, we trek to Jhinu Hot Spring where you can explore at natural hot spring through Gandruk. Eventually, you will end your trek at Nayapul via Ghandruk village which one of the popular Gurung (indigenous) villages in this region.

Autumn(Sept - November) is Nepal's pinnacle and the best time to go Mardi Himal trekking. So its best time for trekking in Mardi Himal too. April - May is another great time of trekking to Mardi Himal Base Camp.

From May-June, the valley begins to blossom, and a decent time to trek. In June - September, there is the danger of bloodsuckers, storms increments enormously. So, minimum people trek in this time.

We do not recommend to trek in December to January because there is a danger of path being shut by snowfall. Mardi Himal Trek weather should be good to get 100% from it.
